Move-related residential cleaning | Charleston, South Carolina
Move-In and Move-Out Cleaning in Charleston, SC
Prepare an empty or nearly empty house, apartment, or condo with a property-specific cleaning plan built around its condition, appliances, cabinets, access, and handoff requirements.

A separate transition service
Cleaning Planned Around the Property You Are Leaving or Entering
Move-related cleaning is different from routine Standard Cleaning and is not automatically identical to Deep Cleaning. The property may be vacant, partially furnished, subject to a lease checklist, or awaiting a buyer, tenant, or new resident. DSS Cleaning reviews those details before confirming the service.
Tell us what will remain in the property, which interiors you want cleaned, the current condition, your handoff date, and any third-party checklist. We will identify the appropriate labor and document the accepted tasks.
- Move-in: start with accessible kitchens, bathrooms, rooms, floors, and selected empty interiors before belongings arrive.
- Move-out: address agreed transition-cleaning tasks after belongings and ordinary trash have been removed.
- Property-specific: the accepted estimate, invoice, work order, or booking confirmation controls the final scope.
Two directions, one clear process
Move-In Cleaning and Move-Out Cleaning Serve Different Moments
Both services use a custom scope, but the preparation, priorities, and handoff expectations may differ.
Move-In Cleaning
Prepare accessible surfaces in a vacant or nearly empty property before furniture, boxes, and household items limit access.
- Selected kitchen and bathroom cleaning
- Accessible bedrooms, living areas, and floors
- Empty cabinets, drawers, or appliance interiors when listed
- Documented priorities based on the property’s condition
Move-Out Cleaning
Address the accepted cleaning checklist after personal belongings and ordinary household trash have been removed.
- Accessible kitchens, bathrooms, rooms, and floors
- Selected trim, storage interiors, or appliance interiors
- Condition-based attention documented before service
- Clear limits around repairs, damage, debris, and third-party approval
Important: DSS Cleaning does not guarantee a landlord inspection, buyer approval, lease compliance, or the return of a security deposit. Cleaning cannot correct repairs, damage, permanent discoloration, pest activity, mold, or maintenance conditions.
Build the accepted checklist
What May Be Included in a Moving Cleaning Scope?
These categories help you describe the request. Only tasks listed in the accepted property-specific Service Documents are included.
Accessible Food-Preparation Areas
- Counters, backsplash, sink, faucet, and appropriate exterior surfaces
- Exterior appliance surfaces and accessible cabinet fronts
- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping accessible floors
- Empty appliance, cabinet, or drawer interiors only when selected
Fixtures and Accessible Surfaces
- Sinks, faucets, counters, mirrors, and toilets
- Accepted shower, tub, tile, and fixture cleaning
- Accessible floors, baseboards, doors, and trim when listed
- Reasonable attention to disclosed residue and buildup
Empty-Room Presentation
- Dusting of accessible horizontal surfaces
- Selected sills, frames, baseboards, blinds, fans, and fixtures
- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping accepted floor areas
- Light spot attention only where appropriate and approved
Agreed Handoff Priorities
- Accessible closets and empty shelving when listed
- Interior glass or windows when separately selected
- Ordinary trash-bin service within the accepted limits

The accepted scope controls: Website examples are planning categories, not a promise that every surface or task is included. DSS Cleaning may revise the scope, price, or schedule when the actual property condition materially differs from the information and photographs provided.
Express selection and safety approval
Tasks That Are Not Automatic Inclusions
Request these items before the appointment so labor, access, condition, and safety can be evaluated.
Interiors and Added-Detail Work
- Inside ovens, refrigerators, microwaves, cabinets, or drawers
- Interior windows, blinds, detailed baseboards, and other trim
- Carpet or rug spot treatment and carpet shampooing
- Heavy grease, adhesive, hard-water, odor, or stain treatment
Movement, Debris, and Specialty Conditions
- Behind-and-under appliance cleaning or appliance movement
- Heavy furniture, boxes, personal-property moving, or organizing
- Large debris, bulk trash, abandoned contents, or haul-away
- Mold, pests, biohazards, hoarding, restoration, or post-construction work
Appliance distinction: Cleaning an appliance exterior, cleaning its interior, cleaning behind or underneath it, and moving it are four separate tasks. Movement may be declined because of weight, utility connections, flooring, access, damage, or liability concerns.
Choose by purpose and condition
Move-In / Move-Out vs. Deep vs. Standard Cleaning

Frequently Asked Questions
Review pricing, occupancy, interiors, appliance movement, property preparation, realistic results, deposits, and the service-concern process.
How much does move-in or move-out cleaning cost in Charleston?
Move-in and move-out cleaning requires a custom estimate. Pricing may depend on square footage, occupancy, current condition, buildup, appliances, cabinets, requested detail work, access, travel, and the time available before the property handoff. The accepted estimate or other Service Document controls the final price.
What is included in move-in and move-out cleaning?
The accepted property-specific scope determines what is included. A typical request may cover accessible kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, floors, trim, and selected empty storage or appliance interiors. General examples on this page do not automatically add every task to an appointment.
Does the home need to be empty?
An empty or nearly empty property usually allows the team to work more efficiently. If furniture, boxes, trash, or personal belongings remain, disclose them before the estimate because access and labor may change. DSS Cleaning does not automatically move or organize belongings.
Are oven and refrigerator interiors included?
Only when they are expressly selected and listed in the accepted scope. Refrigerator interiors must be emptied, and appliance condition may affect the required labor and achievable result. Appliance exteriors and interiors are separate tasks.
Are cabinet and drawer interiors included?
Only when they are expressly listed in the accepted scope and emptied before service. The number, size, condition, residue, liners, and remaining contents can affect pricing and completion time.
Does move-out cleaning include behind or under appliances?
No, not automatically. Behind-and-under cleaning must be separately quoted and authorized. Moving an appliance is a separate safety decision and may be declined because of weight, connections, flooring, access, damage, or liability concerns.
Does DSS Cleaning guarantee the return of my security deposit?
No. DSS Cleaning cannot guarantee a landlord, property manager, buyer, or other third party will approve the property or return a security deposit. The accepted scope controls the cleaning work, while lease compliance, repairs, damage, and third-party decisions remain outside the cleaning guarantee.
Can every stain, grease mark, adhesive spot, or odor be removed?
No. DSS Cleaning uses reasonable professional methods but cannot guarantee complete removal of baked-on grease, hard-water deposits, rust, grout discoloration, adhesive, paint, odors, permanent stains, damage, or residue affected by age, material, porosity, or prior treatment.
Does DSS Cleaning bring supplies and equipment?
Yes. DSS Cleaning brings the supplies and equipment required for the accepted scope. The property must have safe access, electricity, hot and cold running water, and working climate control unless another arrangement is approved in writing.
How far ahead should I request service, and is a deposit required?
Request the cleaning as early as possible and provide at least 48 hours of notice. Availability is not guaranteed during busy moving periods. A 30% reservation deposit is generally required for a one-time appointment and is applied to the accepted total.
What should I do if I have a service concern?
Report a qualifying concern within 24 hours and provide useful details or photographs. DSS Cleaning reviews the concern under the Service Agreement and may provide one complimentary re-cleaning of the affected area when appropriate. The Service Agreement controls eligibility, remedies, and exclusions.
Look Clean. Smell Clean. DSS Clean.
